Marketing and advertising fundamentally comes down to an organisation communicating their brand, products and services to their target customers with opportunities for working both in-house or for an agency, which could include the following areas:
- Direct marketing
- Marketing communications (online marketing and social media)
- Market research
- Public relations (PR)
There are a wide array of graduate schemes in a number of different sectors with companies such as GlaxoSmithKline, IBM, Mars, BMW, Rolls Royce, Unilever, L’Oreal and many more. There are also opportunities to join small to medium size businesses, as well as working for agencies such as Ogilvy, Saatchi & Saatchi and more.
Working conditions: Working hours tend to be determined by getting the project finished in time, but you could expect to work about 9-6. You’ll probably be working in a social office environment.
Starting salary: Salaries can vary between industries but in general you can expect to earn more in London.
